(1997 - 2016)
The first family Pete lived with was not very nice to him. They had him declawed and neutered...then they abandoned him outside to fend for himself. He found himself in the yard of his new family who fed him outside for a while. They tried to find his first family, but he was lucky that they didn't. Then, that October, it stormed...and they felt bad for him and brought him into their house. He's been there ever since. They have two other cats, Greebo (Boo) and Fenway. Boo didn't seem to mind the new cat too much, but he let Pete know that he is the Man Of The House. Fenway still doesn't like Pete very much, but she is never mean to him.
Since that time, Pete has gone blind. The Vet said he has detached retinas - he can't see like he used to. But he's learned how to get around the house and his new family has been very patient and understanding - and they even help him out. It took a while for Boo and Fenway to understand. Boo used to get very upset with Pete when he'd run into him accidentally, but the family does try to remind Boo not to react. Fenway will only tap Pete on the head when he's about to run into her.
After he got used to being blind, Pete's life went back to normal. He is still a Game Buddy when his family plays video games. He can still get into his favorite chair and sometimes he will even get up on the bed and sleep.
In recent years his health began to fail even more but he's a fighter, and his family helped him pull through. But one thing he couldn't run from is old age. A series of strokes ushered in a quiet end for Pete...he passed away on September 25, 2016 knowing he was loved.
